Four poems I wrote nearly twenty years ago, while I waited in the hospital to learn if I was going to receive a heart transplant before time ran out, have been published in Blue Villa Magazine.
During that time, I was critically ill, having lost nearly half of my body weight and unable to get out of bed unassisted. I didn’t know if I was going to live or die, and neither did the doctors. I got lucky at the cost of someone else’s misfortune, and now I get to share what I wrote with you.

Dawn- Thanks for sharing this. I hope you've recovered well beyond the heart transplant? I know surgery can sometimes take a long while, especially on one of the major organs. What I've learned over the years is that not only are they really expensive, time-consuming, and complicated, it almost takes a village to make a full recovery. Glad you're here writing. :)
Bone struck me.
