So beautifully written.

I too had tons of green tomatoes in the fall! Next time.

Fried green tomatoes are pretty good too!

You can ripen green tomatoes. We bring them inside and put them in paper grocery bags with a couple apples per bag. They ripen in the bags and we get an extra month of tomatoes that way.

We did that too—ate ripe tomatoes until a week or so ago. But I mean… sweets! <3

A great story, and I wish I had this recipe this fall when I had 20 pounds of green tomatoes! I love me an old recipe.

I've never actually made this recipe myself. I'm sure it wouldn't taste the same as hers.

Similar memories of my mother’s apple pies, tarts, and turnovers. She was of the same generation as your grandmother. I wish I had been taught some of her recipes,.

Even with her recipes, I can't make them turn out the same way. I can cook any meal, but my pastry skills are non-existent.
