I am excited to announce my poem “Flying Standby” has been published in the current issue of Epistemic Library with the theme of “Anticipation.” I wrote the first draft of this poem in 2005 when I was in the hospital waiting for my first heart transplant. Of course, I thought of it as my only transplant because I had no idea what the future held.
If you are so inclined to spare a good thought or positive vibes, please send your kind wishes to a friend of mine who is currently waiting in the hospital for her second heart transplant. It’s a trying time, not only for the person who is essentially held in captivity, but their family as well. Let’s all take a moment to wish for a short wait and a quick and painless recovery.
