She was the best dog. I find posting old photos and videos of her along with sharing stories helps me to heal. They never really leave us so long as we remember their names. Even our childhood dogs are still within petting distance in our memories.

Another friend suggested a children's book about Gidget, but many of her exploits were not suitable for a young audience. I have been writing poems about my many dogs over the years and thought about creating a collection similar to Mary Oliver's "Dog Songs."
She was one of a kind. If she knew you, she would be your best friend, but if she thought you might possibly be a threat to me, she would turn into Cujo.
