The words "fucking bitch" after he shot her, will never leave my ears. These are not the words of a man afraid. They're the words of a predator. The entitlement so many men feel with female existence, their willingness to neglect us, treat us with lack of care and mindfulness, is the cause of our perpectual rejection of men. Men need to heal in the same way we women dedicate ourselves to healing, and until they do, we will continue to reject their dysfunctions. Second chances aren't in my sphere anymore. I believe they all know exactly how they're behaving and simply don't care.

Fantastic piece! I'm sorry for what you went through. It's sad that people still think it's the woman's fault when they're not able to get out. I can't believe what women in the US are going through right now. It's such a shame that someone like that can get so much power and take down so many human rights.

Thank you. Getting out is the most difficult part, as well as the most dangerous. That's when most murders occur. I was lucky, even though I had to stay at a women's shelter for a while when I left my first husband.

This abhorrence is too often kept a secret and it's time we protect each other!

As Gisele Pelicot said, "Shame must change sides."

Powerful piece, especially the framing of women becoming effigys rather than humans in the eyes of certain men. The statistic about pregnancy-associated homicides being higher than medical deaths is chilling becuase it shows control isn't abstract, it's lethal. I've seen this same pattern in communities where collective action by women creates real fear among those who need hierarchy to feel secure.

Collective action is the only thing that brings about real change.

Want people to look after the people that are caring trauma from abuse, they are being triggered by the violence in the streets. In abuse you have to find places to hide, live in fear…ICE is triggering this in millions of people.

I know this to be fact!

Take care if people you know that have trauma!

Yes. I have so much of my own buried trauma, and this does force it to the surface. I try to avoid watching too much news to protect my mental health.
